What's Special about the Lackawanna Library?

The Lackawanna Public Library is a beautiful colonial style building with magnificent oak woodwork throughout the interior. Built in 1922, the library is one of the last Carnegie libraries ever constructed. In addition to the Steel Plant Museum, the library also contains old city directories, and microfilm of Lackawanna's local newspapers and the Victorian, a publication devoted to the memory of Father Nelson H. Baker.

Corner Café serves delicious refreshments on the main level of the library, located in the book sale corner. The café is open during library hours serving coffee.

The children's room has a bright and colorful carousel motif.

Public access computers: 7 Gateway PCs, networked for black and white printing (10 cents per page), and equipped with Microsoft Office, Internet access, and more.

There is also a meeting room, a study room, copier (15 cents per page), microfilm reader/printer (10 cents per page), and a radio receiver for the visually impaired. The library is wheelchair accessible.
